Loessfest is back for it’s sixth year with an amazing lineup of entertainment, including stars from Disney Junior, movies in the park, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and much more. This Memorial Day weekend, spend time with the family enjoying free entertainment at Tom Hanafan’s River’s Edge Park in Council Bluffs. This park is located on the Iowa side of the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge.

Loessfest hosts FREE events every day May 25 – May 28. Here is the schedule of events:

Friday, May 25 Disney Night

Starting at 6pm
Enjoy music from Choo Choo Soul, a children’s entertainment act seen on Disney Junior, featuring singer Genevieve Goings. Opening for Choo Choo Soul are Jeff and Paige. They will bring science and nature to life with original songs and stories. The kids will absolutely love these amazing performances.

At Dusk, Around 9pm
Movie in the Park. Enjoy The Incredibles after the concert on an incredibly big screen.

Saturday May 26

Park opens at 4pm, Concert festivies begins at 730pm with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons on stage at 9pm
Enjoy classic music from Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Remember their hits including “Grease”, “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, “Sherry” and many more.

Sunday May 27

11am – Bike the Bluffs. Enjoy a 22-mile bicycle ride beginning at the river at Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park.

8pm – Omaha Symphony Concert with live orchestral music featuring popular favorites like Gershwin’s “Strike Up the Band,” Lowe’s “My Fair Lady,” Bernstein’s “West Side Story,” Williams’ “Marion’s Theme and Raider’s March” from Indiana Jones, Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever” and Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture.”

Fireworks for Freedom – Enjoy spectacular fireworks following the Omaha Symphony Concert.

Monday May 28

9pm – Movie in the Park featuring Rocky Horror Picture Show. Enjoy this 1975 cult classic on the big screen. Participation, props, and costumes are encouraged.

All Weekend:

Be the first to enjoy River’s Edge Park’s new water features, including an interactive 10-foot tall water wall, a flooding wading basin, water bubblers, spray jets and an illuminated fog feature.

Floodplain: A Clear View of Life in the Big Muddy – on exhibit in River’s Edge Pavilion. Conservation photographer Alex Wiles brings the many inhabitants of the Missouri River floodplain to Loessfest. Know your river by getting a close look at the diverse wildlife that resides in this ever-changing environment.

Tips for Loessfest:

  • Parking is available on both sides of the river, including the parking lot just north of Harrah’s Casino and in Harrah’s parking garage
  • Consider car pooling
  • View parking, maps and directions on the Loessfest website at Loessfest.com
  • Arrive early to reserve your spot on the Great Lawn
  • Bring blankets and lawn chairs, but no awnings, tents or lawn chairs with shade awning
  • You can bring food and drinks (no alcohol) to the events
  • There will be food concessions available for purchase
  • Have fun and enjoy the free entertainment
