From the publisher:

You know that Pat Robertson is a world-famous televangelist, but did you know that he’s also an expert in financial matters? In his weekly broadcast segment, “Money Monday”, Dr. Robertson answers viewers’ questions about all things financial. His deep knowledge of finance, based on sound economic – and Biblical – principles, has made him a “go to” resource for hundreds of thousands of CBN viewers.

Now he has written a book that is accessible to everyone and provides answers people desperately need in today’s tough times.

Among the topics he addresses are how to:
  • Create a healthy financial plan
  • Devise spending strategies to help you live within your budget
  • Identify areas where your money can grow
  • Build a nestegg
  • Maximize your tax savings
  • Cut costs
  • Diminish your debt
  • Invest wisely
  • Make prudent financial decisions
  • Plan for the future
  • Enjoy peace of mind and God’s financial protection
RIGHT ON THE MONEY also includes a financial glossary, worksheets and a special section of the most frequently asked questions & answers about keeping what you have and growing your personal net worth.

My review:
This book is a very simple finance book. I found myself skimming parts, because it was mostly review for me (I have an MBA). I did not agree with all his advice, especially about debt, credit card usage and tithing before all other expenses, and would advice readers also review other sources for financial advice.

There was good basic information on investing and retirement accounts. I felt this was the best, most informative part of the book. Also, the section on mortgages was great for anyone considering the rent versus buy scenario. Overall, this book is good for anyone who desires basic knowledge about personal finance or more in-depth review of investment options.

I’d like to read what this guy has to say..I think I’d find it interesting to see how he presents the tithingh before all else rule (if he has a convincing argument).

I heard Mr. Robertson on the radio a few days ago talking about his book and I thought it sounded interesting. I’d like to read it and see what I think. We’ve been working with a CFP for several years, but I still like reading the perspective of other people. Sometimes it gives me greater insight and leads me to other questions to ask!
