Valentine’s Day Date Ideas in Omaha!

From food, to cultural events, and so much more, Omaha is for lovers! This February 14, take out your sweetie and enjoy Valentine’s Day dates in Omaha, Nebraska that will be sure to rekindle the romance. Here are a few ideas to help you enjoy Cupid’s holiday all week long!

Swing under the wings
The popular dinner and dance event, Swing Under the Wings at the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum is back on Saturday, February 10. The 1940s themed event will have you swing dancing to Gooch and the Guys, dressed in your best 1940s, USO-worthy garb, and eating a delicious buffet-style meal. Prizes will be given for the best costumes. Dinner, dancing, and two drink tickets are just $75 per person. If you’d rather just come for the swing dancing and have a couple of drinks, cost is only $60 per person sans dinner. Kick up your heels in the gorgeous SAC hangar, and swing under the wings!

Ice skate in Midtown
Whether you are an expert ice skater or need to hold onto your sweetie while you attempt the ice, there’s something romantic about ice skating outdoors in the winter months. The Rink on Farnam at Midtown Crossing is open until February 25 and makes a perfect Valentine’s Day date. The rink is closed Monday through Wednesday, but the 60’ x 80’ is the perfect stop for those celebrating the weekend before or after the holiday. Admission is only $5 per person.

Oolala!
See the Tony award-winning musical, ”An American in Paris” at the Orpheum Theater this Valentine’s Day. The story takes place in Paris, France, the city of romance. An American soldier falls in love with a young French woman in the city of Paris, and you’ll fall in love with George and Ira Gershwin’s soundtrack, the acting, and the ambiance of the Orpheum. Tickets start at $35, and the show runs from February 13-18.

Dine at the gardens
Valentine’s Day night can be filled with a gourmet meal and beautiful flowers at Lauritzen Gardens. Surrounded by the beautiful floral majesties of Omaha’s Botanical Center, couples can dine on a three course meal, complete with a glass of wine. Diners will begin with a delicious kale and bibb lettuce salad topped with citrus fruit and pecans with a delectable citrus mustard vinaigrette. Next, each person has their choice of a main entree. Chateaubriand or roasted beef tenderloin, both with shitake mushrooms, grilled salmon, stuffed cornish game hen, or stuffed portobello mushroom are the five mouthwatering choices. Finally, sweethearts will enjoy a platter of bite-sized desserts with coffee and tea. Love is in the air at the Lauritzen Gardens from the fresh flowers to the fantastic feast. It’s worthy of a couple in love.
