Buttermilk Waffles

  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 3/4 cup Hiland Dairy buttermilk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter melted and cooled

Whipped Topping

  • 1 cup Hiland Diary heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tsp white sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla


Buttermilk Waffles

  1. Pre-heat waffle iron.

  2. Whisk together dry ingredients - flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. Whisk together wet ingredients - buttermilk, vanilla, eggs, and melted butter - until well blended.

  4. Add wet ingredients to dry and stir just until moistened. Do not overmix.

  5. Add approximately 1/4 cup batter for each waffle on your waffle iron. Cook until done, approximately 5 minutes.

Whipped Topping

  1. Chill mixing bowl and whisk in refrigerator for 15 minutes.

  2. Add heaving whipping cream, sugar and vanilla to mixing bowl and whisk on high with a stand or hand mixer until it reaches your desired consistency.

  3. Serve immediately as a topping for your buttermilk waffles.
