How are you doing with the March Declutter for Cash Challenge? It’s been slow for me, but I have sold a few items and have some extra cash.
WEEK 1 RESULTS
92 Kid’s Books – $37
4 Kid’s Puzzles – $1
2 Girl’s Shirts – Free on swap site
I sold all these items on a local Facebook buy, sale, trade group and the free item was given to a member of swap group I belong. I met the buyers within two blocks of my house, so I didn’t have much time investment this week, other than the actual process of decluttering.
WHAT I LEARNED
I listed several more lots of items, including Stampin’ Up stamp sets and another set of kid’s books, on the Facebook group that did not sell. Since the stamp sets are very specialized items, I may need to find another place to sell them. This week I am going to try Craigslist since there is a larger reach of potential customers for my craft items.
WEEK 2 PLAN
My goal this week is to list at least two items every day for sale. I need to step up my game and really focus on decluttering. This week I will also fill up at least two trash bags of gently used items for donation items. I have lots of miscellaneous kid’s toys and clothing that are harder to sell and would be more time effective to simply donate to the local thrift store
HOW ARE YOU DOING WITH DECLUTTER FOR CASH?
Tell us about your first week of declutter for cash challenge. I’ve heard from several followers and Facebook fans and lots of people are participating and making some good money on their used items. What has worked for you, what hasn’t worked? Please share in a comment.
Nicole, when you find a good site for selling the craft items like Stampin’ Up (or Creative Memories ~ i have a lot of scrapbooking stuff) please let me know. I have stamping and scrap booking stuff and I am not sure where to try and sell it as I found a lot of people on FB were looking for a GREAT deal, and for me to practically give my stuff away. I want to declutter but I paid a lot of what I have, and I will NOT just sell it for pennies on the dollar for what I paid for it. I might be a little bit of a hoarder in that regard. I have a spare room that I can’t really get into right now, but I would like to be able to put some food on the table or pay for the gas to drive to the meet up. Is that the wrong idea?
Not doing very well on my declutting… Maybe I have prices too high, but I am not wanting to just give away my stuff.
Not doing so well on selling items but I did get rid of a dresser that my niece left at my house. I have a cousin who has extra girl scout cookies she is willing to trade for the dresser. So its a win win scenario.– except I’m trying to lose weight. This week I’m going thru clothes that my son left when he moved out.
http://www.facebook.com/groups/169898176468146/ is a local site you can try to sell your Stampin’ Up items on. It’s more for selling homemade items, but they do allow craft items.
I sold a kids’ art desk and big folding slide. $150! Made room in my garage. I used local Facebook pages too. Took pictures, used stock photos and website descriptions. These items were in excellent conditions. I also delivered for prompt payment. That was worth it. No takers for a triple stroller yet though. Ha ha
