WHAT ARE CVS MINUTECLINICS?
Did you know that CVS MinuteClinics opened in Omaha, LaVista & Lincoln last month? I am excited because they offer convenient and affordable care for many minor illnesses, vaccinations and even wellness & physical exams. The clinics are walk-in only and are staffed by Nurse Practitioners and Physician’s Assistants with a collaborating physician as needed. Since they are conveniently located inside CVS stores, you can visit the MinuteClinic and pick up any prescriptions given in one visit.
The MinuteClinics also offer personalized weight loss counseling & coaching and a smoking cessation program. The MinuteClinics do not take the place of your primary physician, but instead work with your physician and offer you more options for quick care, wellness and vaccinations.
PRICES AND INSURANCE
CVS MinuteClinics post their entire list of prices online and in-store, so there is no guessing how much a visit will cost. Plus, they accept most major insurances with the same co-pay as a regular doctor visit. Over 80% of their patients use their own insurance and you can easily check online if your insurance is accepted. If you have a high deductible, CVS MinuteClinic offers low cost, quality care that won’t leave you with sticker shock at the end of the visit. Plus, they run specials on certain exams, including $39 sports physicals through the end of September and a FREE 20% off CVS shopping pass when you get a flu shot through the 2014 flu season.

What I love most about the new CVS MinuteClinics are the hours! They have extended weekday hours and are open on Sundays. I know when my kids get ill on Sunday or later in the day and our regular urgent care facility is not open, I don’t want to take them to the emergency room unless it truly is an emergency. The CVS MinuteClinic Sunday hours gives me more options for quality care, especially when I just need some antibiotics for an ear infection or other minor illness.

I did not know we had this in Omaha. Bummed one is not in Millard but the LaVista one is close enough.

I’m learning that they are in Chicago and people don’t have rely on Walgreens for their mini clinic. There are many options now.
