Growing up in my family, the birthday kid got to pick what mom made for dinner that night. 90% of the time, all 3 of us kids always picked tacos. My mom makes amazing tacos! They aren’t anything fancy, but maybe that’s part of the appeal. She fries the shells by hand and serves all the Read more
Oh summer! How I love thee! Kids outside playing. Pool is filled up. (Who cares if it’s just a kiddie pool? Don’t judge me.) Baseball is happening. (Course, isn’t always baseball happening? I mean, they start in March and go to October…what other sport does that?!) A lot of good is to be had during summer.
One thing that is REALLY good to do in the summer is to make homemade creamsicles. (Course, it’s really good any time of the year. Again, don’t judge me.) Now, I don’t know if there’s an official definition of what goes into a creamsicle versus a popsicle. But, to my little ol’ noggin, a creamsicle is ice cream based and a popsicle isn’t. So that’s why I’m calling these creamsicles. Whatever you call it, I love them! Read More…
We’ve been dealing with food allergies and sensitivities here in this house. My oldest son is almost 5 and over the last 6 months or so, we’ve been suspecting that certain foods have been affecting him. The kicker? We don’t know which foods. Or at least, we don’t know ALL the foods yet. So we’ve Read more
Ahh…the life of a Stay-At-Home Mom when the afternoon rolls around and your preschoolers ask you “Can we have a snack?” There’s the usual suspects around our house: veggies & dip, pretzels, various fruits (apples, oranges and bananas being the most popular), and popcorn.
But we sometimes mix things up and have something sweet – especially if I’ve recently made cookies or homemade creamsicles! Sweet is great, but I like serving sweet and healthy! Read More…
“I think I love you”, he said, taking another cookie bar. “You’re the most awesome baker in the world”, he said, taking yet another cookie bar. “You’re the best wife ever”, he said, taking another cookie bar. “I’ve got good news. I just won a million dollars in the lottery and I’m giving it all Read more
To chunk or not to chunk. Are minis back in style? Do you want to be a chip off the old block? I’m talking about chocolate chips, of course. Are you a regular chocolate chip fan? Or do you prefer chocolate chunks? How about mini chocolate chips? I like ’em all. But what I really Read more
M&Ms. Who doesn’t love them? They’re great for snacking on. They’re great for rewarding potty training toddlers. They’re great for handing out at Halloween. They’re great for putting in Easter Eggs, Christmas stockings and as a topper on birthday presents. And we all know that “M&Ms melt in your mouth, not in your hand.” Who Read more
Breakfast is the bomb diggity. (Do kids even say that anymore?) What’s not to love? But it’s hard to find a good middle ground in between the ease and convenience of cereal and the heartiness of a full eggs, bacon & toast spread. This is that middle ground!
Once prepared, it’s as easy as cereal, but it’s as hearty as eggs. And, if need be, it’s easily held to be eaten in a car or at a school bus stop or while curling your hair.
And if variety is the spice of your life, then this is also a recipe for you! Make them plain – they’re delicious! Make them with chocolate chips – they’re delicious! Make them with blueberries – they’re delicious! There are other choices too – strawberries or diced apple pieces. Delicious! Delicious! Delicious!
In addition to delicious, they’re easy to make. Just 1 bowl. Don’t even need a mixer – just a sturdy spoon. Read More…
Are you a coffee fan? I am not. Unless you count liking the smell of coffee. I just never acquired a taste for it. I haven’t really tried…it seemed like an expensive habit to pick up, so I’ve left it alone. Which has been a little problematic because coffee can be a really big part Read more
We’ve recently cut quite a few things from our diet in order to identify any food sensitivities a couple of my kids might have. It’s a long process of eliminating a lot of foods, then adding them back in one-by-one to see if there’s any impact. The ingredient that I miss the most? Tomatoes! I Read more
