News-O-Matic gives children the opportunity to explore the latest current events through the app, while also giving them a voice to express their views. Children can interact with the Editor-in-Chief by rating stories, drawing pictures, asking questions or expressing opinions about current topics in the “News Room” section of the app.
Created by a skilled team—including child experts, designers and entrepreneurs—News-O-Matic aims to transform the news experience for children in a safe, interactive environment while encouraging them to become knowledgeable, productive members of society.
Review:
We downloaded the three-issue free trial of News-O-Matic and my seven year old daughter was engaged with the program for about 45 minutes. She enjoyed the news articles and fun facts and I appreciated that the articles were age-appropriate. No scary news or difficult to understand vocabulary. This is a perfect app to practice reading during the summer months off school.
Her favorite feature was the games, including the mystery word (hangman style), puzzles and the art section. She also enjoyed the interactive map.
You can download a three-issue free trial from the Apple iTunes store (for iPad or iPad Mini). After that, the subscription is $1.99 weekly, $6.99 monthly or $49.99 yearly.

I am so excited about this! We’re going to purchase one month for our oldest granddaughter & grandson (11) & see how they like it. I have a feeling we’ll be forever subscribers. There are 12 younger ones behind them.
