Get Financially Naked: How to Talk Money with Your Honey by Manisha Thakor, MBA, CFA & Sharon Kedar, MBA, CFA, Adams Business, published 2010
Book Description:
“They say love conquers all but when you share financial responsibilities, maintaining peace and a balanced checkbook may seem like the ultimate battle.
Now the bestselling authors of On My Own Two Feet, Manisha Thakor and Sharon Kedar, offer an inspiring, action-oriented guide that helps you care for you relationship and your money matter simultaneously. Complete with charts, graphs, case studies, and tip-based advise, this succinct, straightforward guide teaches you how to communicate (without fighting) with your honey about money.
Accessible and easy to follow, the three-part process presented in Get Financially Naked will help you learn how to:
- Accurately interpret your current financial condition
- Create and sustain a financial plan that works for both of you
- Move forward using the “five power steps to financial success””
My review:
This book is fantastic! Get Financially Naked includes simple and sound financial advice that is easy to understand and can be applied to almost any situation. The authors guide you through interactive exercises that help you understand your own financial beliefs, goals and current financial situation. Your spouse can also do the exercises and quizzes to determine where you both stand regarding your finances.
There are also questions in each section to ask your ‘honey’ about finances to help you both get on the same page. However, I don’t think you have to be married or in a relationship to benefit from this book. The financial advice is basic with concise and important information. There is a good reason this book is rated five stars on Amazon. I highly recommend this book and am happy that I have an extra copy to give away.
