I was so excited to take my older two kids to see the classic story ‘A Christmas Story’ at the Rose Theater. Our annual holiday family tradition is to borrow the DVD from the library and watch Ralphie’s quest for a Red Ryder BB gun.

The live show at the Rose Theater portrayed all our favorite scenes from this classic story as a musical performance with entertaining song and dance. There was even a very comical leg lamp dance scene and an enjoyable tap dance routine. This was a fun and exciting way to see our favorite Christmas movie.

I would recommend ‘A Christmas Story: The Musical’ for older children or as an adult date night. This is a 2 hour show with intermission so young children could get squirmy during the performance. I took my 6 and 8 year old children and they both loved it! Even though the Rose Theater is known for children’s entertainment, this is a show that all ages can enjoy and would make a great night out with or without the kids. I saw many couples with their elderly parents and other adult family members enjoying this show.

If you attend the show take a few extra dollars to purchase some fun toys in the lobby and chocolate chip cookies during intermission (proceeds benefit the Rose Theater). Kids can enjoy a fun slide in the lobby before or after the show. Also, stay after the show for an insightful Q & A session with the cast and head upstairs for autographs. My kids had several burning questions, including what they put on Flick’s tongue after it was pulled from the flagpole and how the stage turned.

my favorite part is the leg lamp. My father went as far as to purchase one and give each one of us kids an ornament of the leg for our tree.

My son absolutely loves this movie. Our favorite part is when Randy falls down in the snow and rolls around because he can’t get up. My son told me this year he felt like that kid when I was getting him ready to go outside

My favorite scene is when they get the leg lamp. I also love the bunny pajamas! The entire movie is hilarious, I’d love to see it performed live. 🙂
