This is a great cake. The chocolate lover in your family will love it. The peanut butter lover in your family will love it. The “I just wanna be a semi-homemade type of cook” in your family will love it. It starts with a cake mix and you add some oomph! You bake it, you make a yummy filling and your frost it. Serve with milk and cut those slices small – this cake is rich!
Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
Cake:
- 1 package yellow cake mix
- 4.5 ounce package of instant milk chocolate pudding mix
- 1 cup oil
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp vanilla
Filling:
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 stick butter
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Also needed:
- 6 ounces chocolate chips
- 1 can of milk chocolate frosting
Instructions
- Grease and flour two 9 inch cake pans. (8 inch will also work, but then don’t use all of the cake batter – your pans will overflow!)
- Blend cake ingredients 4 minutes. Let stand 15 minutes.
- Put chocolate chips into batter and stir around.
- Pour batter; 1/2 each into one of the cake pans. Don’t worry if it’s thick – that’s okay!
- Make your filling at the same time, in a separate bowl and keep til later.
- Bake at 350 degrees until toothpick comes out clean from center of cake (about 35-40 minutes). Cool.
- Put filling between the two layers.
- Frost with milk chocolate frosting.
- Enjoy with milk or vanilla ice cream!

Wow, this looks AMAZING! I love the advice to cut this one small because I need the reminder. Every time I cut up something like this my brain seems to think I need a bigger slice than the rest of my body can handle, lol. Milk is a good idea too. Can’t wait to try this one!
