Recipe – French Bread Pizza!

This isn’t really a recipe per se…but more of a reminder that you can think outside of the box when it comes to pizza.  It doesn’t always have to be on a pizza crust.  It can be on English muffins or bagels or hamburger buns or even French Bread!

This recipe is perfect if you find a loaf of bread on clearance at the grocery store or have extra French bread or hamburger buns you need to use. A great way to make use of what you already have in the kitchen!

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 1/2 jar Pizza or spaghetti sauce
  • 1 cup Mozzarella cheese
  • Toppings of choice (optional) cooked ground beef, pepperoni, black olives, mushrooms, green peppers, etc.

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Slice the French bread in ½ length wise so that it looks like a boat. I like to hollow out the middle a little bit to allow the ingredients to sit “inside” the bread.
  • Mix together your pizza sauce and toppings.
  • Dump the sauce mixture into the bread.
  • Top with cheese.
  • Bake at 350 until crispy and hot. Usually about 20-25 minutes.
  • Slice and enjoy!
