Okay people. Prepare to feel special. Today, I am going to share a recipe that is a STAPLE at our house. Something that we use at least once a week, in a variety of dishes, and it’s worth its weight in GOLD. Both savory and spicy (but not TOO spicy), it’s the perfect blend of flavors to compliment your (Taco) Tuesday night dinner plans. That’s right, I’m talking about TACO seasoning FROM SCRATCH!
So I don’t know about you, but I am one of those people who really cannot stand to make the same few meals over and over again. I need variety. Except when it comes to tacos. You can feed me tacos for days on end and I’m not sure I could ever get enough!

So for years, I just freely handed over all the dollars for those convenient little packets of taco seasoning. What’s not to love, right? But then one day I started wondering if there was a healthier, cheaper alternative. I began experimenting with different recipes, but while they were cheaper, I just missed the flavor of that store bought goodness my taste buds had become accustomed to. I found myself returning to the packets, despite having the ingredients for basic taco seasoning on hand.
And then….it happened. I discovered THE perfect recipe, and now I can never go back. It truly makes the most amazing tacos, or taco soup, or nachos, or whatever taco flavored goodness you have in mind. It’s healthy, and cheap (assuming your spice cabinet is as out of control as mine) and blows those packets out of the water. I now make it in large batches so that I always have some ready to go.
Now there’s really only one problem left, and unfortunately, it’s a big one. My kids don’t. like. tacos. WHO DOESN’T LIKE TACOS??!?! They cannot possibly be genetically related to me. Some days it feels like I live in a house of horrors. But then I snap out of it and realize that just means one thing. MORE TACOS FOR ME, BABY!!!
