Pumpkin Spice…who knew it could be such a divisive thing? You either love it or you hate it, there seems to be no in between. SO if I have to choose, count me in camp LOVE IT. There’s nothing out there that feels like the beginning of fall quite like the warming tones of pumpkin spice. Whether you’re adding it to a latte or baked goods, it’s just hard to imagine much else that can sweetly bring the flavor of fall to your tongue.
How to Make Pumpkin Pie Spice Seasoning
And considering how many different uses you can find for pumpkin pie spice, it only makes sense to make your own. If you bake a lot, you’ll likely have all of the ingredients to make your own anyway. All you need is cinnamon (who doesn’t have that one?), powdered ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice. These are all readily available in my pantry. And it takes a whole 2 minutes to whip this up. You literally just add each of the spices to a small bowl or jar ( I like to use old spice jars) and whisk or shake until it’s fully incorporated. Ta Da! You’ve done it…that’s all it takes!
How to Store Pumpkin Pie Spice
You’ll want to store this in an airtight container to preserve its freshness as long as possible. My preference is to use either mason jars, or old spice jars that I’ve saved, but any airtight container will do. And then you’re ready to shower your world with all the pumpkin spice your heart desires!
How to Use Pumpkin Spice
Add pumpkin spice to your favorite baked goods like pumpkin spice snickerdoodle cookies, pumpkin loaf, or pumpkin muffins, or pumpkin scones, or pumpkin spice french toast! Sprinkle it atop a pumpkin smoothie, or add it to some chocolate pumpkin chia seed pudding, or mix some into your next cup of hot chocolate! The possibilities are endless and not just limited to pumpkin flavored treats!
