Who doesn’t love a warm cup of hot chocolate on a cold and windy day? There’s just nothing quite like the decadence of that rich and creamy goodness delighting your tastebuds and warming your belly. But could we make that cup of chocolate even more amazing? I’m here to tell you, YES! By adding the amazing benefits of bone broth to an already delicious beverage, it’s no longer just a treat for the senses but also one your whole body will thank you for.
Now I’ve been hearing about the benefits of bone broth for quite some time, but despite all my efforts, I just haven’t been able to stomach it as a beverage. And when someone suggested bone broth in my hot chocolate I have to confess it initially sounded like complete and utter sacrilege. Whyyyy would anyone ruin such a good thing? But, as someone who desperately needs the benefits bone broth can provide, I decided to give it a try. And I was surprised to find that it really was just as delicious as I had been told. In all fairness, my husband does not agree…BUT…my KIDS do! Be still my heart.
How to Make Bone Broth Hot Chocolate
So, in order to enjoy your own protein rich, gut-friendly, rich and creamy hot chocolate, this is what you’ll need. Bone broth of choice (I make my own homemade chicken bone broth), milk of choice (I used unsweetened almond), maple syrup, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, salt, and cinnamon. Pour all of the ingredients into a small saucepan and mix well. Bring to a simmer and then adjust ingredients as needed and serve. This is the perfect way to add some healthful benefits to one of your classic fall and winter beverages. Three out of four in my household agree. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
