I think most of us coffee lovers would agree that consuming it can be a pretty pricey habit if you consistently find yourself at fancy coffee shops. I mean, no shame in that latte game, but it can hurt your pocket books (says the girl who used to get a medium latte that cost over $5 every day before work.) I think I might cry if I actually tallied up how much money I spent on coffee in a year. So, I concocted this cinnamon maple oatmilk latte in an effort to reduce my coffee spending. I did NOT expect to love it as much as I did, but holy wow!

Making the Coffee for this Latte

There are a few ways you can make this drink. I happen to have scored an espresso machine for free in my local buy nothing group (huge buy nothing fan over here) so I made mine using true espresso. But, you can also achieve the desired effect if you make your coffee with a Keurig on the strongest setting that uses the least water, or in a regular coffee pot if you make it extra strong.

How to Make a Cinnamon Maple Oatmilk Latte

For a hot latte, I warm up a large coffee mug full of oat milk in the microwave or on the stovetop. Then I add real maple syrup, and several dashes of cinnamon to the warm milk and mix using a milk frother or whisk. I prefer Vietnamese cinnamon…it’s just got a uniquely delicious scent and flavor. Top your latte with the espresso shots or strong coffee, and then mix together. Sprinkle with some additional cinnamon and serve! I make these on a regular basis, and they’re so warm and comforting (or cool and delicious if you make the iced version).

How to Make an Iced Latte Version

If you’d like to make an iced version of this, place the espresso or coffee in the freezer or fridge until its thoroughly chilled before adding it to the cold milk. If you plan ahead, make the coffee before bed and it will be chilled and ready in the morning.

You can try this drink with cow’s milk, almond milk, coconut milk, or whatever milk you prefer. We are just big oat milk fans over here. Homemade lattes really can be just as delicious as store-bought, and can save you a ton of money, so if you have an addiction like me, be sure to give drinnk or one of these 24 homemade iced coffee recipes a try!
